Entry-level Analyst

Location: Virtual

Job Description
Provide both qualitative and quantitative social science research and analysis on a wide variety of projects spanning national security, energy, health, environment, education, etc. Typical tasks include performing open source/on-line research, compiling and coding data for analysis, verifying accuracy and authenticity of source materials, computing and analyzing statistical data as directed, assisting in preparation of technical proposals, reports, briefings, memoranda and white papers, and monitoring status and progress of project work to ensure compliance with task orders.

Required Skills
Minimum 2 years of experience analyzing social science related topics. Must have excellent writing, speaking, and organizational abilities, familiarity with statistical analysis and other quantitative analytic techniques highly desirable, and strong attention to detail a must. Ability to learn quickly and accomplish tasks under limited supervision. Should possess superior computer literacy skills suited for work in a virtual office environment.

Fluency in one or more analysis or programming languages, including: statistical analysis (SPSS, R), agent-based modeling (AnyLogic, Repast Simphony), numerical computing (MATLAB, Mathematica), databases (MySQL, SQL Server), and general programming (Java, C++, C#).

Academic Requirement
Bachelor’s degree in any social science field (e.g., sociology, economics, psychology, anthropology, political science, geography, history), International Relations, Security Studies, or Area Studies.

Successful candidates may be subject to a government security investigation and therefore must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Mid-level Analyst

Location: Virtual

Job Description

Research Scientist

Job Description
Responsibilities include leading key tasks related to social science research design, data collection and analysis while helping the project manager keep tasks on track; developing instrumentation for quantitative or qualitative data collection; planning and conducting a wide range of data collection activities; analyzing data; drafting reports and presentations. The research scientist may also support coordination, writing and proposal tasks related to business development.

Required Skills
Minimum of 3 years of experience leading social science research projects. Additional qualifications include excellent attention to detail, ability to work well with others, ability to multi-task, self-starter, strong analytic ability, writing, organizational skills, as well as experience playing a lead role in methodological design, and quantitative data collection and analysis. Solid working knowledge of SPSS, SAS, or other statistical data analysis packages is highly desirable, and familiarity with Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) is required. Should possess superior computer literacy skills suited for work in a virtual office environment.

Academic Requirement
PhD (preferred) or Master’s degree in social science fields such as sociology, psychology, social psychology, anthropology, economics, political science, or other related fields. Regardless of discipline, degree should have emphasized strong quantitative training.

Software Engineer

Job Description
Responsible for conducting analysis, creating models, developing software, designing algorithms, and specifying technology and system requirements. Support system architecture design, implement prototype models, create and run experiments, validate software components and models, and analyze results.

Required Skills
Experience with data analysis, modeling and simulation, software development, system design, and requirements specification methods. Knowledge of systems dynamics, agent-based modeling, statistics, operations research and other mathematical modeling/numerical methods desired. Experience with software component prototyping and programming in a standard high-level software language such as C/C++, C#, Java, etc. Skills in the use of mathematical/modeling and simulation tools (e.g., Matlab, Mathematica, AnyLogic, Vensim, Stella, Repast, etc.) highly desirable. Must have excellent analytical abilities and proven software development experience. Strong oral and written communication skills desirable. Ability to work independently and effectively within a virtual team environment required. Should possess superior computer literacy skills suited for work in a virtual office environment.

Academic Requirement
Master’s degree (preferred) or Bachelor’s degree in a computer science or computer engineering, or related field. Experience with human behavior modeling, cognitive modeling, social network analysis, decision models, military modeling and simulation systems, or artificial intelligence a plus.
