Dr. Kari Kelton: Chief System Sciences Officer
Dr. Kari Kelton is NSI’s Chief System Sciences Officer. Dr. Kelton has over fifteen years of experience in analysis and technology development leveraging the social, cognitive, and organizational sciences for DoD and interagency clients. She has a broad portfolio of expertise including graph theory, network algorithms and social network analysis; discrete event simulation, agent-based modeling, and system dynamics; decision analysis, optimization and statistics; knowledge based systems and artificial intelligence; and systems analysis, design, development and integration. Immediately prior to joining NSI, Dr. Kelton served as a government representative for the Human Terrain System (HTS), a US Army Training and Doctrine Command program deploying mixed teams of social scientists and military analysts to provide direct support to military units in the field. Dr. Kelton served as Technical Director and as Assistant Director of Assessment of HTS, through which she completed two deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan and integrated the HTS technical requirements into the Distributed Common Ground System – Army requirements. Dr. Kelton has a Ph.D. in Decision Sciences and Engineering Systems and a M.S. in Operations Research and Statistics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and a B.A. in Mathematics (summa cum laude) from Western Kentucky University.
