Nathan Heath

Analyst
Nathan Heath is an Analyst at NSI, Inc. focusing on strategic and technology consulting for government and commercial clients. Now with NSI's National Security Practice for 5.5 years, he leads and contributes to critical OT&E, AI, cyber, and defense projects for the US Department of War (DoW), including US Joint Staff projects in support of various Combatants, Services, and DoW offices. Nathan has produced NSI reports on information operations, strategic communications, strategic culture, integrated deterrence, and helps design complex casual and futures models. He serves as one of the firm's resident experts on U.S. allies and partners, having helped lead relevant projects in this area and spoken on the topic in international venues. Nathan additionally supports NSI’s human capital and commercial initiatives, contributing to decision-making analysis, benchmark analysis, and research for the Department of Labor and Securities and Exchange Commission, as well as clients in the biotech, gaming, and technology industries. In addition to his external duties, Nathan manages numerous internal technology and operations initiatives, and he co-founded the company's monthly Book Club. Nathan received his MA in Law and Diplomacy from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, as well as BAs in International Relations and Music from Wheaton College, with additional studies at Oxford and Harvard. He also has a Professional Certificate in Agile Project Management from the University of Maryland's Center for Project Management Excellence and is a Certified Scrum Master and Certified SAFe 6 Agilist. Prior to joining NSI, Nathan worked in various roles across government, private law, and nonprofit organizations. In addition to his work at NSI, Nathan is an AI Safety Consultant for OpenAI and Anthropic, a NextGen Initiative Fellow with Foreign Policy for America, and a Security Fellow with the Truman National Security Project. His work has appeared in various venues, including War on the Rocks, Inkstick Media, Global Security Review, and World Politics Review, and he has spoken at numerous conferences in the UK and United States. In his spare time, Nathan enjoys running, music, (good) coffee, and Premier League soccer.
